Years ago, all eyewear screws were made from soft “pot metal”. Ordinary cutters could do a sufficient job and last several years. Nowadays, you don’t know if you are going to be cutting a pot metal screw or a hard stainless steel screw. If your cutter is not tempered to be harder than stainless it will develop divots and ruin the cutting edges. To play it safe, use this end cutter to slice through any screw you encounter.
